Museum Attendant, Part Time – 4132

The County of Fluvanna, VA is seeking a 2 part time Museum Attendant that will work out of the Fluvanna County Museum at Pleasant Grove Park. Duties include: greeting visitors, staffing reception desk and answering visitor questions, monitoring groups in the galleries during busy periods, and other duties as assigned.  This position will also facilitate program registrations and provide information about department policies and protocols.  Primary Focus:  Museum Attendants are assigned to the Fluvanna County Museum and duties include opening and closing the museum, greeting guests, providing information to guests, and ensuring the security and safety of the facility by observing the activities throughout the museum and vicinity. Manage assigned areas and programs while maintaining communication with all involved. Hours will include weekday mornings/afternoons as well as weekends (approximately 16-20 hours per week).  There is potential for weekly hours to increase to approximately 20-25 hours per week from August to May. Additional evening hours occasionally available during museum functions and programs.  Responsibilities also involve helping facilitate functions of community development, programs, relationship building, developing others, project management, quality results, and retention with the focus on Values, Inclusion, Relationships and Communication; as well as other services required by Fluvanna County.

To succeed in this role, the ideal candidate will bring basic experience and knowledge in museum interpretation and programs or equivalent combination of education and experience. Museum Studies/Arts Administration students encouraged to apply. Applicants should enjoy working with the public, have an interest in history and possess basic computer skills. Customer service experience is desirable.  

The position requires the ability to lift up to 25 lbs. and must have a current VA driver’s license and be able to drive between off site locations if needed. CPR and First Aid certification preferred. Driving and Criminal History Background check required.  Hiring Range: $10.66 - $12.25 per hour, DOQ.

Recreation Aide, Part Time – 4131

The County of Fluvanna, VA is seeking a part time Recreation Aide that will assist in overseeing recreational activities and programs. Duties include: Assisting in any number of activities such as youth sports, special event programs, crafts, sports leagues, etc. in accordance to the mission, purpose and policies of the County’s Parks and Recreation Department. Responsibilities also involve helping facilitate functions of community development, programs, relationship building, developing others, project management, quality results, and retention with the focus on Values, Inclusion, Relationships and Communication; as well as other services required by Fluvanna County.  Primary Focus: Assists program directors in carrying out activity goals and objectives. Manage assigned areas and programs while maintaining communication with all involved. Must be able to work in large and small group settings. Maintains attendance and other records and prepares reports as needed. Keeps recreation facilities and grounds clean and safe for all participants.

To succeed in this role, the ideal candidate will bring experience and knowledge in managing youth and adult activities and programs or equivalent combination of education and experience. The candidate must be able to work a varied schedule, including evenings and weekends. The position requires the ability to lift up to 25 lbs. and must have a current VA driver’s license and be able to drive between off site locations if needed. CPR and First Aid certification preferred. Driving and Criminal History Background check required.  Hiring Range: $10.00 to $11.50 per hour, DOQ.

Social Services - Benefit Programs Specialist I
