Dominion Energy recently announced the Joshua Falls–Yeat 765 kilovolt (kV) Electric Transmission Line Project. Details of the project (included below) were mailed to county residents that own property near potential routes for the proposed transmission line.

From Dominion Energy:

Developed by Valley Link—a joint venture between Dominion Energy, Transource (jointly owned by American Electric Power and Evergy) and FirstEnergy Transmission — the Joshua Falls–Yeat 765 kV Electric Transmission Line Project represents a collaborative, forward-looking solution to help address the region’s rapidly growing demand for electricity, strengthen the reliability of the electric grid for all customers and ensure energy security for an increasingly dynamic economy.

The Joshua Falls–Yeat project proposes construction of an approximately 115-mile, 765 kV electric transmission line connecting the existing Joshua Falls substation in Campbell County, Virginia to a proposed new substation in Culpeper County, Virginia. 765 kV transmission presents a long-term, durable solution designed to deliver bulk power across the electric grid, serving homes, businesses and critical community services throughout the Commonwealth.

As we plan for and refine transmission line routing and other considerations, your feedback and input are crucial to help us ensure we design a project that takes into account what’s important to your community and minimizes impacts to the greatest extent possible. You are invited to attend a community meeting in your area to meet with the Joshua Falls–Yeat project team, learn about the project, ask questions and provide feedback. Our team is planning multiple community meetings, and we invite you to attend the one(s) which best fits with your schedule and location. A full list of scheduled meetings will be available at vltransmission.com/joshua-falls-to-yeat/.

In the event of inclement weather, meeting updates or postponements will be posted at www.vltransmission.com or available by calling (855) 617-6107.
The project is currently in the early stages of development. As part of this process, Valley Link will study potential transmission line routes and conduct surveys to identify environmental, cultural and historic resources, as well as any threatened or endangered species. Feedback from landowners and community members will help inform route development before proposed routes are submitted for review and approval.
