Position Summary:

Fluvanna County Parks & Recreation is seeking a Parks and Recreation Services Specialist to assist with the supervision and management of parks, programs, facilities, and staff in alignment with the Department’s mission, vision, and policies. This position serves as the Department’s administrative manager and provides direct support to Parks & Recreation programming and events.

What You’ll Do (Key Responsibilities):

  • Monitor Pleasant Grove Park and recreation facilities for maintenance issues.
  • Manage Department inventory.
  • Prepare complex fiscal and statistical reports.
  • Prepare and manage invoices for event rentals and programs.
  • Research and propose grant opportunities.
  • Assist with the Department budget preparation process.
  • Assist the Director with personnel supervision and department management as needed, including serving as support in the Director’s absence.
  • Assist with planning and execution of Athletics, Recreational, and Active Seniors programming.

  • Provide supervision to volunteers and staff

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Valid driver’s license (Commonwealth of Virginia)
  • Associate’s Degree in Recreation, Administration, or related field (accredited college/university)
  • Five (5) years of experience in recreation program planning and implementation
  • 3–5 years of supervisory experience
  • Or any equivalent combination of education and experience that provides the knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the work

Preferred:

  • CPR and First Aid certification

Working Conditions & Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to sit and/or stand for long periods; use a computer, telephone, and standard business equipment
  • Must be able to communicate effectively with others
  • Travel required to and between center/off-site locations
  • May be required to lift up to 25 lbs
  • Ability to work a varied schedule, which may include evenings and weekends

Starting Pay: $19.20/hr ($39,936 annualized)
