46. Watch the pups play at the Pleasant Grove Dog Park.

The Dog Park features both large and small dog runs for your pets to exercise and interact in a safe environment with other dogs. Owners are solely liable for injuries or damage caused by their dogs. Owners are asked to read and abide by the rules and to teach their dog obedience for social interaction with other dogs.  Dogs must be current on all vaccinations and we ask they be leashed when entering and exiting the Dog Park. 

11. Try the sangria at Thistle Gate Vineyard.

Family-owned and tended vineyard is located in Fluvanna County near historic Scottsville, Va. Thistle Gate is dedicated to growing high quality grapes and producing premier wines. The wines are handcrafted using traditional techniques and aged to maturity in French and American Oak barrels.

47. Take a shot at Central Virginia Sporting Clays.

CVSC is a public shooting range that offers wobble trap, 5-stand, a sporting clays course and instruction. Shooting sporting clays is an enjoyable pastime for families and friends. It can also be a great option for a business outing. The sport is designed to simulate bird and rabbit hunting using clay targets instead of live ones. At CVSC we emphasize gun safety and enjoyment of the sport.

Eight canoes available to rent, including life vest and paddle. Four kayaks are available. Call Parks and Recreation to arrange rental agreement.

The Fluvanna Flutterwheels Square Dance Club have been members of Central Virginia's square dancing community for nearly 35 years. Join the fun. Let's SQUARE DANCE!

33. Visit the Pleasant Grove House, known as the Haden House.

Built in 1854, Haden House at Pleasant Grove was a vibrant and active farming operation, producing wheat, corn, oats and tobacco. Plantations like Pleasant Grove depended on the Rivanna bateaux and canal boats to transport harvested tobacco crops and the locally milled corn, wheat, and oat flour downriver to Richmond markets and warehouses. Includes the Pleasant Grove House Museum (Free Admission).

Lake Monticello Fire & Rescue Squad hosts Bingo every Thursday.  Doors open at 5:00pm, Early Bird Bingo starts at 6:45pm. Proceeds benefit LM Fire & Rescue.

17. Pick up the recent edition of the Fluvanna Review for local news.

The Fluvanna Review is the most-read weekly newspaper in the county.  6,300 copies distributed weekly. are packed with local ads, news, and information. It is the leading source of Fluvanna County news. Each Thursday copies of the Fluvanna Review are delivered directly to homes at Lake Monticello, Broken Island and Sycamore Square. The paper is also available at over 100 key locations throughout Fluvanna, Albemarle, Louisa and Charlottesville, such as grocery stores, doctor’s offices, banks, restaurants, and the Downtown Mall.
