Board of Zoning Appeals (BZA)

Membership: The Fluvanna County Board of Supervisors recommends five members, who are then appointed by the Fluvanna County Circuit Court to serve five-year terms each.  Pursuant to Virginia Code § 15.2-2308, Members of the board shall hold no other public office in the locality, except that one may be a member of the local planning commission, any member may be appointed to serve as an officer
of election as defined in § 24.2-101, and any elected official of an incorporated town may serve on the board of the county in which the member also resides.

By resolution adopted by the Fluvanna County Board of Supervisors on April 19, 1995, the Board of Supervisors required all Fluvanna County Board of Zoning Appeals members to attend (within two years of their appointment) at least one, or more, of the training courses provided by the Virginia Cooperative Extension, the Virginia Department of Housing and Community Development, the Virginia Citizens Planning Association, or Virginia Tech’s Public Service Program.
