Rt. 624/Gravel Hill Rd. will be the signed detour route during July 12-21 closure

CULPEPER — Route 6 (East River Road) will close to through traffic July 12-21 for replacement of a pipe that carries storm water underneath the road. The pipe is between the two intersections of Route 624 (Gravel Hill Road) east of Dixie. Route 624 will be the signed detour route during the closure. Access to all private entrances will be maintained during the closure.

The pipe, which is approximately 10 feet beneath the road, has deteriorated. The depth of the pipe and amount of excavation required necessitated the need to completely close Route 6 as well as the length of the closure. Once the new pipe is in place and the excavation is backfilled the road will be repaved and pavement markings replaced.
