Fraudulent Email Alert

Fluvanna County has been made aware of fraudulent emails that appear to be originating from the Department of Planning and Zoning. These emails contain false and misleading information regarding recent applications and indicate that additional action, as well as payment via wire transfer, may be required before final approval is granted.

It does not appear that a data breach has occurred as the information contained in the emails appears to come from the use of publicly available information obtained from the County’s website.

The County reminds residents:

  • Official County emails come from the “@fluvannacounty.org” domain.
  • Fluvanna County will never request payment via wire transfer.
  • All correspondence should be directed to the official department email.

If you receive a suspicious email:

  • Do not respond or click on any links.
  • Report immediately to the County here.
  • When in doubt, call the department directly at 434-591-1910 to verify communication.
  • If you have received one of these emails and have made a payment, please contact the Fluvanna County Sheriff’s Office at 434-589-8211.
