On a December 19, 2019, the Fluvanna County Sheriff’s Office captured a dog suspected of being infected with rabies in the 200 block of Branch Road, Scottsville, Virginia. The dog was a black Pitbull with a white stomach. The dog was human and animal aggressive and had been running at large that day. Due to the dog’s aggressive actions, it was euthanized and samples were sent for testing. On December 23, 2019 the Sheriff’s Office was notified by the Fluvanna County Health Department that the dog tested positive for rabies.

The Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals in Fluvanna County is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization founded in 1989. Our life-saving mission is to rescue domestic animals in Fluvanna County from cruelty, neglect, and abandonment and to place them in good, loving, permanent homes.

Fork Union Military Academy's Post Graduate basketball program is legendary. Lead by coach Fletcher Arritt for decades, the court is named after him and his wife, Betty Jean. The biggest rival of the PG team is Hargrave Military Academy. A game the Corps attends is a great experience. The team plays in the Thomas Gymnasium.
