Delinquent Taxes?

The Treasurer's Office has retained Taxing Authority Consulting Services, P.C. (TACS), a Virginia law firm that concentrates its practice on representing treasurers and tax collectors. The fees charged by TACS are paid for by the delinquent taxpayers and the County pays no fees for the service.

In collecting these accounts, TACS and the Treasurer may pursue all means of collection authorized by law, including the attachment of wages or other assets or filing suit in court.

If you owe delinquent taxes prior to January 1, 2026, you will need to be in touch with TACS.  They can be reached at www.taxva.com or 866-951-0742.  The Treasurer's Office is currently only taking payments for 2026 taxes.

Collections:  On March 5, of each year, the prior year's delinquent taxes will be sent to TACS.  Therefore, be sure to settle your account(s) before that time in order to avoid the additional collection fees.

DMV Hold:  In January, of each year, any prior year delinquent Personal Property taxes will have a DMV hold placed on them, and will not be removed until the entire tax bill is paid.  This hold prevents you from being able to conduct any business with the DMV.
