The Trails at Pleasant Grove

Sandy beach trail head sign

The county purchased 969 areas of farm land in 1994 when members of the Historical Society suggested that it would be an ideal location for a park public trail system. From the notion, the Fluvanna Heritage Trail Foundation was eventually formed that eventually Fluvanna Heritage Trail.  The Foundation continues to work with Fluvanna County Parks and Recreation on the trails today which have grown to 22 miles of trails for everyone to enjoy. The Heritage Trail foundation also was the main catalyst in helping create and design the Eastern Trailhead, and the ADA accessible Julie King Sandy Beach Trail leading to the scenic Rivanna River.

Please report any trail maintenance issues to  Aaron Spitzer at 434-589-2016 or email at aspitzer@fluvannacounty.org so that it can be taken care of promptly.
