Media Release - Fluvanna County Sheriff’s Office Announces Arrest in Child Abuse Investigation

The Fluvanna County Sheriff’s Office received information in July 2025 regarding allegations of physical and sexual abuse involving children who were residents of Fluvanna County approximately 12 years ago.

The investigation remains ongoing. Investigators identified the suspect as Randolph Scott Garr, of Weston, West Virginia. In April 2026, a Fluvanna County Grand Jury returned four separate indictments charging Garr with the following offenses:

  • Sodomy with a Victim Less than 13 Years of Age (§18.2-67.1)
  • Strangulation Resulting in Injury or Wounding (§18.2-51.6)
  • Two counts of Child Cruelty (§18.2-371.1)

On May 8, 2026, investigators with the Fluvanna County Sheriff’s Office, in coordination with the West Virginia State Police Violent Crimes Task Force and Troop 3 Weston Detachment, took Garr into custody at his residence without incident. A booking photograph of Garr is attached to this release.
