Fluvanna Master Gardener Training Program for 2022

The 2022 Master Gardener Training Program will begin on January 22nd and run through Mid-April. The classes will be a hybrid of Zoom and in person instruction. The first class will be an in person introduction session on Saturday, January 15th, 2022 from 9 am to noon. On line classes will be held on Tuesday evenings from 6 pm to 9 pm. There will also be four in-person workshops on Saturdays from 9 am to 12 pm. Some of the subjects covered include Botany, Soils, Landscaping, Turf, Plant Diseases, Vegetables, Fruits and Trees, Composting and more.

Reserve your Fluvanna County Community Garden Plot(s) for Spring/Summer 2020

Sign up for a garden plot by submitting a Garden Plot Form.  Garden plots are assigned on a first come, first served basis. If no plots are available in the garden, you will be put on a wait-list and notified when one becomes available.   There are 97 (10ft. x 15ft.) garden plots for a fee of $45.00 per year $50.00 after February 15, 2020.  There is also public access to water and other available resources. Virginia Master Naturalists – Rivanna Chapter

The Rivanna Chapter of the Virginia Master Naturalists announce we are accepting applications for our 2020 training class.   We are a volunteer corps dedicated to preserving our natural heritage.   The training will run on Wednesday mornings from February 10 to May 20 with Wednesday afternoon and Saturday field trips.   All sessions will take place at the Ivy Creek Natural Area Education Building at 1780 Earlysville Road, Charlottesville .

Crews will stabilize the slope to protect the travel lanes; road reduced to one lane

CULPEPER — Motorists traveling on Route 53 (Thomas Jefferson Parkway) in Albemarle County are advised to plan extra travel time and to expect delays in November while the Virginia Department of Transportation works on the slope adjacent to the travel lanes.

FLUVANNA COUNTY STATEMENT ON ALLEGATION REGARDING JAMES RIVER WATER AUTHORITY ARCHEOLOGICAL CONSULTANT

PALMYRA, VIRGINIA – The James River Water Authority (JRWA) was recently made aware of allegations about a subcontracting archaeological consultant who has worked on the James River water supply project. Those allegations were made by a former employee of the consultant and relate to archeological studies that were conducted by the consultant for JRWA in 2017 and 2018.

The QCBS allows businesses from the four counties to connect, learn and prosper at a free event hosted by the Central Virginia Small Business Development Center and the economic development offices and Chambers of Commerce from each county.
