County Administrator Says Goodbye

Palmyra - Steven M. Nichols helmed his final Board of Supervisors meeting on July 2, 2019. Following a special presentation, Mr. Nichols, briefly reflected on his time with Fluvanna County. Chair Mike Sheridan highlighted Mr. Nichols dedication and love for the County, and noted that he has always appreciated that, "(Mr. Nichols is a) leader that leads by example."

FAMILY SERVICES SPECIALIST I/II:  Fluvanna County Department of Social Services is currently recruiting for a Family Services Specialist, who is seeking to make a positive difference in the lives of adults, families and children.  A minimum of a Bachelor's degree in a Human Services field or minimum of a Bachelor's degree in any field with a minimum of two years of appropriate and related experience in a Human Services area is required.  Hiring range is $38,103 - commensurate with

PART-TIME FRAUD INVESTIGATOR I/II- Department of Social Services

20 hours per week.  Investigates fraud, calculates and establishes overpayments, initiates Administrative or Court Action, oversees collections, and maintains database in Social Services agency.  Candidate must be reliable and possess excellent customer service skills, communication skills, organizational skills, investigative and interviewing skills.  High School diploma or equivalency required.  Experience preferred.  $15.04 per hour minimum (salary commensurate with experience).  All state applications must be submitted online at 

#3670- Project Manager- Temporary (PT)

Fluvanna County, Virginia, is seeking a part-time Project Manager to oversee the County’s public utilities installation project at Zion Crossroads.  Under the general supervision of the Director of Public Works, the Project Manager is responsible for planning, project management, contract administration, and inspection of public utility projects. A strong background in waterworks/sewer design, construction, and project management experience is preferred. 

July JRWA Meeting Canceled

By order of Chairman Watson, the July 2, 2019, meeting of the James River Water Authority has been canceled.  The next scheduled meeting is on Tuesday, August 6, 2019.

PALMYRA – On Monday, June 17, 2019, friends and family gathered in Civil War Park for a ceremony of dedication and remembrance on the two year anniversary of the passing of Fluvanna native, Navy Seaman Dakota Kyle Rigsby, who died in service to his country.
