Comprehensive Plan Update Process
Comprehensive Plan Update -The County is beginning the process of a full update of it's Comprehensive Plan. New maps and documents will be uploaded as the become available.
Work is proceeding on individual sections of the Plan update.
•A new section is being added to address Rural Preservation.
The advisory groups have been meeting regularly to review documents related to the Comp Plan.
•The Historic Preservation Advisory Group resumed meetings in January 2026.
•Going forward, the groups will meet as needed.
Among the issues left to resolve is whether to keep three Community Planning Areas or reduce it to two.
•This arose due to the recent change in the County Code regarding Rural Cluster Subdivisions.
A revised schedule for plan completion will be disseminated later in 2026.
Comprehensive Plan Documents
The Thomas Jefferson Planning District Commission (TJ PDC) website contains these completed regional plan documents which will be used in compiling the 2024 Fluvanna Comprehensive Plan Update.

Community Meetings: Four meetings were held to gather input from residents:
- Fork Union District Community Meeting - 2/25/2025 at the Fork Union Community Center
- Palmyra and Rivanna Districts Combined Meeting - 2/27/2025 at the Maple Room at the Lake Monticello Fire House
- Cunningham District Community Meeting - 3/4/2025 at the Antioch Baptist Church
- Columbia District Community Meeting - 3/8/2025 at the Columbia Baptist Church
