October is National Domestic Violence Awareness Month

October is National Domestic Violence Awareness Month, a time dedicated to remembering victims whose lives ended too soon as the result of domestic violence, offering safety and support for those currently in abusive relationships and celebrating survivors who are now free from their abusers. 

911 And Non-Emergency Phones Have Been Restored

UPDATE:

911 and Non-Emergency Phone Outage
For Immediate Release – No Further Updates Anticipated

At this time, it appears that the 911 and normal non-emergency phone service has been restored to the Sheriff’s Office and Emergency Communications Center. If you are experiencing an emergency, call 911. If you need other assistance, the normal nonemergency number, 434-589-8211 can be used. If you encounter difficulty connecting, the two numbers previously released will be available and monitored until 7:00 PM today in case further outages occur.

August 28, 2024 - High Heat and Heat Index

Temperatures are expected to remain in the 90s throughout the day (Wednesday, Aug 28), with real feel temps up to 105 degrees.

Fluvanna County Emergency Management will continue to monitor temperatures and weather. Alerts will be sent in the event of hazardous conditions.

Voter Registration Office Closed Thursday, July 18

The Fluvanna County Voter Registration office will be closed Thursday, July 18th  to attend State Board of Elections training.

Vehicle Break-ins at Fluvanna Dog Park

The Fluvanna County Sheriff's Office seeks information regarding an incident that occurred Sunday, July 7, 2024, at the Fluvanna County Dog Park.

Multiple vehicles were targeted and had items stolen from them.

If anyone was at the park between 10AM and 1250PM and saw anything suspicious, please don't hesitate to reach out and ask for Deputy Gates at 434-589-8211.

June 21-24, 2024 - Prolonged Period of Excessive Heat Expected

The National Weather Service has issued a Hazardous Weather Advisory for our area.

A prolonged period of hot weather is expected through this coming weekend into next Monday. Heat index values of above 100 degrees will be common this weekend, with heat index readings of 103 to 108 on Sunday. These types of heat index values may be dangerous to those outdoors. Additional excessive heat is possible on Wednesday.

Virginia Tourism Corporation Announces Grant Funding for Fluvanna Tourism

The Virginia Tourism Corporation (VTC) has announced its support for Fluvanna County’s tourism initiatives by awarding $22,000 in grant funding for 2024. This investment aims to boost local visitation and promote key attractions and events within the county.

TJPDC Seeking Public Input for Move Safely Blue Ridge

Charlottesville, Va. The Thomas Jefferson Planning District Commission (TJPDC) will be popping up at events throughout Region 10 to engage the public about transportation safety needs. The public will have an opportunity to learn about the project and respond to a survey at various farmer’s markets and other locations.
