Renewal Applications

  • Applicants who are renewing a concealed handgun permit must apply in the City or County of their residence.
  • Renewal applications should be submitted no sooner than 180 days prior to the expiration date of the current permit.
  • Applications are available in the Clerk's Office from 8:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.  Applications may be filed in the Clerk's Office between these hours as well.
  • Applications are also available through the State Police at the following web site: https://vsp.virginia.gov  
  • Renewal applications must include a photocopy of the applicant's valid photo identification [issued by a governmental agency of the Commonwealth or by the U.S. Department of Defense or U.S. State Department (passport)] and a photocopy of the applicant's most recent permit.
  • Renewal applications may be submitted by mail to: Fluvanna County Circuit Court, P.O. Box 550, Palmyra, VA  22963.
  • The processing fee is $50.
  • The Sheriff's Department performs background checks and then forwards this information to the Circuit Court for entry of an order either granting or denying renewal of the permit.
  • The Clerk’s Office will mail the permit (or notice of denial) to the applicant. Please allow 45 days from the time the completed application is filed with the Clerk’s Office.
