Captain Aaron Hurd

Captain Aaron Hurd

Captain Aaron Hurd has served the citizens of Fluvanna County as a law enforcement professional for more than twenty years. His service to the Commonwealth began while enforcing federal shipping regulations in and around the Port of Hampton Roads while in the United States Coast Guard Reserve. That style of service became his career during his initial appointment as a Virginia Game Warden and has continued to develop as a Fluvanna County Sheriff’s Deputy. His experience includes leading small teams as well as multi-agency operations, serving as an agency representative in local and Commonwealth-wide roles, and deploying agency-wide systems and standards. Personnel development and agency improvement have always been and will remain highly important to his management doctrine. His desire to continue to strengthen inter-agency partnerships with agencies like the FBI, NCIS, Southern Virginia Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force, the Virginia State Police, and others provide invaluable benefit to our community as well.

During his tenure with the Sheriff’s Office, Captain Hurd has directly supervised the Patrol Section, Investigations Section, and has undertaken many administrative tasks. In his role as Captain, he again oversees the Patrol and Investigations Sections, and now the Reserve Deputy Section, the agency records management system, other administrative tasks, and serves as the agency Public Information Officer.

Captain Hurd holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Government from Liberty University and a Master’s Degree in Information Assurance from Strayer University. He is also certified in various tools related to the extraction and examination of evidence obtained from computers and mobile devices.
